My story so far
Hi! I'm Kerry
I love to create order from chaos. It’s something I’ve done throughout my working life, whether that meant running my own business, coordinating a tender or sorting through pages of information to find what actually needs to be said.
Over the past thirty years, I’ve run a company, raised a family, committed to my community, started over and built a new career. There’s been plenty to learn along the way. Problem solving has always been one of my strengths, and I enjoy getting to know a business well enough to understand where I can be useful.
My background is in administrative and business management, including ten years working on tender bids. That work suits the way my mind works. I like understanding the requirements, digging into the detail and bringing the information together so it makes sense to someone reading it for the first time.
But I also love writing. I care about the words we choose and how they sound. A document can be accurate and still be hard to read. A business can have a wonderful story and struggle to tell it. Helping with that is work I enjoy.
Often, it starts with a conversation. People will tell you something remarkable about their business almost as an aside, because to them it’s simply what they do. I like asking the extra question and finding the example that helps explain it.
Through Kerry Ware & Co, I help with tender responses, business award submissions, business copy and editing. Sometimes I’m working from a detailed brief and sometimes we start with notes and a conversation. Either way, I take the time to understand what you need to say and who needs to hear it.
I’m a quiet achiever by nature. I like getting on with the work and knowing the details have been taken care of. I also have a trusted network of creative and technical professionals to call on when a project needs another area of expertise.
When it’s time to unwind, you’ll often find me tucked into a corner with a glass of wine and something from my shelves of treasured books. There’s usually a thought that stays with me long after I’ve put the book down—or sends me looking for a pen.
